A Field Guide to Procrastinators

Procrastination is the prelude to productivity! There are many types of procrastinators that are out there and here are just some.

I know for sure I am all of these. Actually, I’ve been meaning to draw this for months now. When I finally decided to draw it, I found it funny that I was procrastinating on drawing about procrastination. It is like procrastination inception! Let’s just say I was doing research ;)

Closely related to the Napper is the Daydreamer. I imagine that I am having great ideas and getting a lot done only to be highly disappointed when I snap out of the daydream.

The Overachiever.

For example, for no reason other than a DESPERATE NEED TO DEMONSTRATE THEIR AWESOME, one might decide that an email had to be written in Japanese. Also, that they had to take as few liberties as conceivably possible with the nuances and structure, making it match the English version already had written. This can turn a 20-minute email composition into a 3-day perfectionist’s nightmare.

Hi! As you probably know this excellent review of the art and artisans of Procrastination has been making the Internet rounds a few times by now.

I stumbled across it again today, and finally managed to stay focussed on my Internet Research long enough to track you down as the originator. Yay! And with so many more gems to be found on your site, this has been the luckiest procrastination venture I’ve made all week!

I’ve taken the liberty to print this out (with the URL remaining of course), and I fully intend to tape it up on my white board (leaving even less room to actually write on it), but with the written addition of this instruction (as suggested by my girlfriend): “PICK ONLY ONE A DAY”. I’m just going to have my nap first.

Thanks for your great work entertaining us mere mortals!
