You probably did! If you didn’t (or did!) let me know in comments below.

With Twitter, Instagram, Tumblr and now even Facebook, social media has taken # to a new level! I hate seeing a #million #words #and #tags as I try to read your status or caption. It annoyed me so much that I refused to use it…but now even I’ve succumbed (sparingly! but still…) It’s getting a little out of control, don’t you think? So, it got me thinking about what a # meant to me before the hash tag ruined it.

I thought “number sign” first, than “pound” – remember when it became acceptable to use “5#” instead of the traditional (and correct, IMHO) “5 lbs.”?

And “battlefield for x’s and o’s” and “failed at making waffle”…comic genius.

I enjoy your humor…

But seriously that HASH TAG gas some real neat uses, which you can use across all platforms simultaneously, and keep all your social media posts about a single event all searchable on line through the simple use of a unique hash tag in all related posts asking all those who connect through any platform to include the event hash tag in their post, and make sure that their post is public, then the Big G MACHINE and all other search engines will that their posts are found through the use of the event hash tag.

“#” isn’t a hashtag. It is an octothorp. A “hashtag” is preceded by an octothorp.
